About

Here for you

I know that people can change and become better versions of themselves. I've seen it in others, and I've seen it in myself. I work with individuals and couples to address the barriers that stand in the way of authentic connection and vibrancy. The roots of our suffering can be acknowledged and understood. Our distress may feel insurmountable, but what do we do with it? What is within our control to change and where to begin? How do we decrease feelings of isolation and find connection to others? While not always easy, therapy is an opportunity to identify and work with these challenged parts of the self. I embrace a holistic approach that acknowledges that mind, body, and spirit are all essential to the overall change process. I work well with people struggling with trauma, relational issues, high performers/leaders, people seeking recovery, helping professionals, existentialists, and creatives. My style is relational, genuine, inclusive, warm, humorous, collaborative, practical, and focused. I offer both in-person and Telehealth appointments. _____________________________________________________ I have a BS from Ohio University and a Masters from Lewis and Clark College. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I've been working in the field for 20 years. In addition to clinical practice, I was a Clinical Supervisor for two of those years before serving as the Clinical Director for Kaiser Permanente's Department of Addiction Medicine for another 5 years. _____________________________________________________ What is therapy? On the most practical level, therapy is collaboratively establishing clear goals and working together to facilitate change towards those goals. And it is so much more. Therapy is a process, and while we may focus on specifically identified issue resolution, therapy is also a journey of discovery that includes exploration, identification, discernment, processing, education and integration. It can be deeply joyful, connective, and spontaneous, as well as vulnerable, challenging, and even painful. _____________________________________________________ I have training and experience in the following areas: Brainspotting and Somatic Experiencing Mindfulness/Meditation Men's issues/Identity/Patriarchy High performers/Leadership/Work-Life Balance Inner Critic/Shame Reduction DBT and CBT Alcohol and Drug Counseling/Abstinence/Harm Reduction Motivational Interviewing Monogamy/ENM/Polyamory Relational Life Therapy for Couples/Terry Real (RLT) Esther Perel/Infidelity/Identity _____________________________________________________ Featured on KPTV Fox12 https://www.kptv.com/video/2024/02/21/behind-wheel-drug-alcohol-counselors-insight-into-drunk-driving/
