Here for you
I know that people can change and become better versions of themselves. I've seen it in others, and I've seen it in myself.
I work with individuals and couples to address the barriers that stand in the way of authentic connection and vibrancy.
The causes of our suffering can be acknowledged and understood. Our distress may feel insurmountable, but what do we do with it? What is within our control to change and where to begin? How do we decrease feelings of pain and isolation and find connection to others?
While not always easy, therapy is an opportunity to identify and work with these challenged parts of the self.
I embrace a holistic approach that acknowledges that mind, body, and spirit are all essential to the overall change process. My style is relational, genuine, inclusive, warm, humorous, collaborative, practical, and focused.
I offer both in-person and Telehealth appointments.

I have a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Lewis and Clark College. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
I've been working in the field for over 20 years, with early work rooted in non-profit settings serving vulnerable and underserved populations. I later spent 14 years at Kaiser Permanente’s Department of Addiction Medicine, where I advanced into leadership and served as Clinical Director for five years before transitioning to private practice.

What is therapy?
On the most practical level, therapy is collaboratively establishing clear goals and working together to facilitate change towards those goals.
And it is so much more.
Therapy is a process, and while we may focus on specifically identified issue resolution, therapy is also a journey of discovery that includes exploration, identification, discernment, processing, education and integration. It can be deeply joyful, connective, and spontaneous, as well as vulnerable, challenging, and even painful.

⦿ Additional Practice Details ⦿
All are welcome in my practice. I am committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. If I don’t know something, I’ll ask. If I am not understanding something about your individual identity, please let me know so that I am clear. I welcome honest, open dialogue.
⦿ Couples Counseling ⦿
I am a couples therapist who utilizes Relational Life Therapy (RLT), founded by Terry Real. RLT is a trauma-informed, practical, skills-based approach that identifies dysfunctional patterns that disrupt authentic connection, addresses core relational wounds that may likely contribute to this dysfunction, and teaches skills that promote healthy communication, boundary-setting, and effective repair.
⦿ Individual Counseling ⦿
I work with men, women, and non-binary individuals. I have experience with a broad spectrum of therapeutic modalities, with trauma work being an area of specialization. Mindfulness practice informs all of my clinical work.
⦿ Men's Issues ⦿
A significant portion of my individual work focuses on supporting men in embracing their male identities while deepening their emotional connection to themselves and to those around them. Many men never learned how to be relational, and can get less of what they want in relationships as a result. Together, we can work to cultivate emotional awareness, empathy, and the capacity for vulnerability so relationship to self and others can feel more satisfying, grounded, and alive.

About Me
I've called Portland home for over 30 years, and love living in the PNW. I am happily married, and a son who is 20 years old. When not working I love to play guitar, listen to vinyl, regularly walk in our amazing parks, ski, work out, watch great films, practice Zen meditation, and pet our sweet dog.
My work is a true calling for me, and it is an honor to be trusted by my clients to serve and support them in their lives.
I appreciate you taking the time to learn more about my practice.
